Neoman is the remake of a scene from Abel Ferrara’s 1992 film Bad Lieutenant. In the film Harvey Kietel’s eponymous lieutenant is seen abusing his position of power by harassing two teenage girls he has pulled over whilst driving their parents car. Hovdenakk re-enacts Kietel’s role himself, blurring the position of his own identity within the work. As the dialogue from the girls is removed, the audience becomes the recipient of this act of sexual harassment, through the framing of the car window.
